Poppy Needle Minder

Get excited and join us as one of our talented members showcases the incredible stitching techniques behind the Poppy Needle Nanny/Minder, a beautiful design by Lorna Bateman! The detailed instructions are available on the National EGA website in the exclusive "Members Only" section. Feel free to use the suggested threads or dive into your stash for a personal touch.


Stitching Techniques:

  • Stem Stitch

  • Bullion stitch or cast-on bullion

  • French Knots


Here's what you'll need:

  • 7" square Linen

  • 7" square Muslin

  • No. 8 Crewel Needle

  • No. 6 Milliner's Needle

  • Red Thread

  • Green Thread

  • Dark Gray Thread

  • Gold Thread for optional bees

  • Basting Thread

  • 5" Hoop


Button kits will be supplied; however, you must buy a magnet to finish the needle minder. A 20mm magnet is the most suitable for the back of the button. The teacher will offer magnets for a nominal fee.
