Judy will show us how to use the charts provided to make different designs.

Get ready for a delightful and creative November with Central New York Embroiderers' Guild (CNY EGA)! This month, we’re excited to announce a fun and engaging project where you’ll learn to create miniature beaded ornaments using the peyote stitch technique. Perfect for decorating your holiday tree or gifting, these charming ornaments will brighten your seasonal decor and introduce you to the beautiful world of beadwork.

We’ll focus on the two-needle start method, simplifying the process, making it less fiddly for beginners. Plus, we’ll be using odd numbers of beads for the width of our projects, making it easier to turn and ensuring a smooth learning experience.

If you didn't have a chance to order a kit, you will need the following materials:

Stitching Techniques:

  • Peyote

Materials

  • Delica Beads - Size 11 in six to seven colors

  • Three Beading Needles - Size 10, two to use for the project, and an extra one

  • Beading Thread - Fireline 4lb or 6lb, members may have some for you to take

Supplies

  • Scissors

  • Working Surface

    • Please bring a flat dish, bead mat, or cloth without loops. A divided flat dish can also be useful for organizing your beads.

  • Ziplock Bag - Use this to place your beading thread in

If you have your own supplies, such as needles, Delica beads, and beading thread, feel free to bring them along! This could be an excellent opportunity to use your stash and explore different designs.

Join us for this engaging project where creativity meets tradition! Whether this is your first foray into peyote beading or you want to refine your skills, we can’t wait to see what you create. Let’s make this holiday season even more special with beautiful handmade ornaments!

Please add your progress or finished project in the comments!
